On Saturday 12th July 2025, Nortonthorpe Sports Club hosted their annual Fun Day and Legends game.
Every year, NSC kick off the season with a fun day featuring family friendly activities, food, drink and, of course, the famous Legends game.
This year's entertainment consisted of fantastic musical performances from Scissett Stage Door Theatre Company and Dark Horse, a bouncy castle, hook-a-duck plus various garden games. Delicious food was provided by Rations Kitchen alongside a BBQ whilst both the inside and outside bar provided cool refreshments, much needed in the glorious weather.
The hotly anticipated legends match is a clash between past Scissett players and those from the current Scissett Teams. In honour of John Hall, a long-term friend of the club, a minute's applause was held before kick-off.
Despite the heat, the mercurial Legends put up a brave fight against the current Scissett players, with a narrow 3-2 victory in favour of the current XI thanks to a late free-kick from Ryan Trafford. It was a testing battle but played in a good spirit.
Most importantly of all, the club raised nearly £300 for SUDC, a charity raising vital awareness for sudden unexpected deaths in children.
A great time was had by all and we hope to see you again next year, watch this space!
