The Memory Walk was a fantastic event on 22nd September 2024, organised by Nick Sterling, to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.
Over 40 people braved the rain to walk 3.5 miles around the (normally) beautiful countryside surrounding Nortonthorpe Sports Club.
The drinks back at the clubhouse presented a welcome opportunity to dry off and the milkshakes from Hollin House Farm were delicious!
Thanks to the generosity of our community, nearly £3000 was raised to support the fantastic and essential work of the Alzheimer's Society.
In addition, Nick personally invested in the path through the trees at NSC which we are proud to name the Forget Me Not Trail.
Nick's wife, Helen, was sadly diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease so we are proud to host this walk to support those affected by this condition.
A lot of work went into creating this special trail ready for its inauguration at the memory walk and we feel very lucky to have such a wonderful path for everyone to enjoy.
We are already making plans for next year's walk, hope to see you there!
Take a look at the photos below which show some of the preparations, the lovely walk (taken on a more favourable day!) and the trail itself.
We would love you to pop up one day to enjoy the Forget Me Not trail for yourselves.
